Assignment: Read an exerpt from Italo Calvino’s “Invisibly Cities” and create an interesting and unusual architectural space based on photographs, found images, and imagination.

With the help of photographic documentation, technology, and several drawing methods, you will experiment with combining and juxtaposing lines and shapes from different structures and different viewpoints, to create drawings that make the illusion of realistic space or mix perspectives in unique and interesting ways. You will essentially be “inventing” new spaces by combining photographs and drawings of existing structures. The work itself will take the form of a pencil drawing on your 14” x 17” drawing paper.
